FAQ - Why am I not receiving all my email messages?

About fifty per cent of the e-mail addressed to our e-mail users is filtered and deleted for several reasons.

  • Messages with attachments exceeding 25 Megabytes are blocked.
  • Messages with attachments having any of the following extensions are blocked:
EXE, SCR, MAIL.ZIP, ZIP, PIF, ADE, ADP, BAS, MSC, BAT, MSI, CHM, MSP, CMD, MST, COM, PCD, CPL, CRT, REG, HTA, INF, INS, ISP, VBE, VBS, JSE, PPA, WSC, SCT, LNK, WSF, WSH, SHS, SHB, EML, JS, 386, DLL, DOT, HLP, VXD, SH, CSH, SYS, OCX, HTT
  • E-mail containing a recognized virus is blocked.
  • E-mail that "looks" like Spam or "junk mail" is filed in a Spam folder.
Many other email messages may be directed to your SPAM folder.  If you did not receive an email that you were expecting, check your SPAM folder.
If you SPAM folder is not displayed within your folder list do the following:
  • Scroll to the bottom of your folder list
  • Click on More.
  • All Files, Spam, Chat, and Trash will be displayed.
  • Click on Spam to locate your missing email.

Another reason you may not receive email messages is that the messages are coming from an email group and you haven't been added to the group yet. Check with your technology facilitator to see if this is the case, then have them add you to the group.
